Microsoft are offering free Microsoft certifications exams in many different way. The methods in which you can get free certifications are constantly updating. In this post I am going to cover all the methods you can utilise to receive a free Microsoft certification exam voucher in 2022.

This article is the updated version of one of my older posts and will continued to be maintained monthly.

How to receive a Free Microsoft Certification Exam

Method 1: Virtual Training Days – https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/events/training-days/

Microsoft Virtual Training days are online, pre-recording training courses, led by Microsoft trainers that cover the specific exam the course is aimed at. The courses covered include:

  • Microsoft Teams
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Power Platform
  • Dynamics 365
  • Microsoft Security
Each course is usually broken down into a couple of parts, that cover 2 days, each part lasting a couple of hours. Once you have completed both days of training, a Free Microsoft Certification Exam will be associated with your Microsoft Learning profile.

Method 2: Cloud Skills Challenge – https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/cloudskillschallenge/build/registration/2022

Once a year Microsoft host the Microsoft Cloud Skills challenge, this year being hosting in May 2022.  The idea of the Cloud Skills Challenge is to encourage professionals to upskill in Microsoft products and then be rewarded with a free Microsoft Certification exam.

There are multiple skills paths you can choose from, each requiring you to complete a specific set of Microsoft learn modules. Once the modules are complete, shortly after the end of the promotion, you will be rewarded the free Microsoft Certification exam through your Microsoft Learning profile.

There are 8 different paths to choose from, each similar in length:

Method 3: Microsoft Enterprise Skills Initiative (ESI) Program – https://esi.microsoft.com/

The Microsoft Enterprise Skills Initiative Program is designed to enable businesses to be successful with Microsoft and Azure technologies.

Not only does it give you access to the best training and learning content available. But you will also be able to take Microsoft exams for Free. Yes, for 100% OFF the advertised price.

Start by asking your employer if they are already enrolled in the program. If they are not already enrolled they should reach out to ESI support found on the link above.

Method 4: Other occasional Microsoft challenge promotions

Microsoft also host many different challenges throughout the year that are fairly consistent, each which also offer you the opportunity to receive a free Microsoft certification exam. Some previous events include the Microsoft Ignite Cloud Skills Challenge and the Spring Cloud Skills Challenge.

Be sure to either bookmark our site to stay up to date on the regular challenges or keep an eye on the Microsoft Learn Blog and do the same.
